What are the sealing parameter recommendations for Steriking® pouches and rolls (time, force, speed)?
The Steriking® See-Through packages are constructed of medical grade paper (70g/m2) that is heat sealed together with a multiply PET/PP-plastic laminate (12/40 microns). The recommended sealing temperature for the Steriking® See-Through packages final closing is 165–200 C depending on pressure and time.
The Steriking® LT-blueline packages are constructed of uncoated HDPE non-woven, named Tyvek® (grade 1073 B) which is heat sealed with a multiply BOPET/PE plastic laminate (12/50 microns). The recommended sealing temperature for the Steriking® packages made of Tyvek® is 120–130 C depending on pressure and time.
As a recommendation the sealing force should be at minimum 95 N and at maximum 120 N. The sealing time of heat-sealer is not normally adjustable; the speed of heat-sealer is usually from 8 m/min to 10 m/min. The seal strength of the final closure should always be tested and checked. The needed parameters might vary depending of the quality and type of the sealer used.
